In 2015, Beth Whipp and Laura Maxwell launched the Ukuthemba Project, to break the destructive mentality towards rape across South Africa. Whilst they were on the programme, they partnered with the Jes Foord Foundation, to empower community leaders to mentor young people.

 

Through a programme of sessions covering topics such as gender roles, relationships, sex and rape, they created an educational competition & campaign in the Hammersdale community in Kwazulu-Natal.​
